Global Warming - a myth? Part I

I'm sure that everyone has heard about global warming caused by greenhouse gas emissions from cars, factories etc. Media are talking all the time about melting ice in the polar regions, sea levels rising, hurricanes and all this is caused by humanity which since industrial evolution has started emitting huge amounts of carbon dioxide into atmosphere.

Environmentalists are demanding immediate action, politicians are making conferences like United Nations climate conference in Copenhagen this week. CO2 limits and taxes are going to be introduced, extremist even propose introducing birth control because more people on earth means more CO2 .

However many scientists are very skeptical about this and despite so called "scientific consensus" they deny this theory, personally I'm convinced by them and in second part of this presentation I will show you why and also show leaked e-mails which in my opinion prove that skeptics are right.

Climate research itself dates back to early XIX century, first theories of man-made global warming have been made in late XIX century however they have been denied as temperature has not risen as these theories predicted. However man made global warming theory has been popularized in the 90's and later by Al Gore and his movie "Inconvenient Truth" after he failed to become US President.

Questions

What is your opinion on the global warming?

Have you heard the voice of skeptics?

  1. I am skeptical. Once scientists scare us with global warming, then they scare us with global glaciation. In the meantime they threat us with ozone hole, reversion of the poles and so on...

It would be better if they teach us how to live in harmony with the environment in practice.

  2. I'm glad you mentioned this subject. This is the thing by which I'm quite annoyed nowadays. For me, a global warming is just a slogan, a propaganda, a way to earn big money by many companies and governments as well. I've also read lots of articles and declarations published by world's biggest scientists and I do believe that there's actually no such thing as 'global warming'. It's even proved that nowadays it's much colder as it was one or two decades ago. It's said that the warmest years were around 1998.

  3. Well the temperature is changing all the time, many scientist say that it is caused by Sun but correlation between temperature and CO2 is in my opinion a myth and even if that would be true humanity is emitting only 4,5% of global CO2 emissions...

  4. Well it is hard not to notice that we have December and the temperature is ~+3-6 degrees and there is no snow outside. Something is changing ...

  5. Climate of earth is changing all the time, there was a medieval warm period during which wineries were in Poland, later we had little ice age and all this is a natural process.

  6. We don't have snow in Poland now but on the other hand I've just read the news that in United States snow is falling in states like Texas and Florida...

  7. The snow has fallen! :)
But it doesn't proof anything :P

  8. In my opinion global warming is just kind of possibility how the life on Earth can
end. There are a lot of ideas made by scientist but I think that they are fake. If
„Global Warming” really exists we need thousands of years to be sure. Like Blazej
said, for me it's just a propaganda which goal is to earn a big money by car
companies. Ecological cars are now really popular.

  9. Not only car companies... In fact those are the minority of the entities which earn money on global warming. The most important thing is trade of allowances to emission of carbon dioxide. Thanks to that the UE goverments gain millions of euros each year.

  10. I think that my knowledge about geography and topics connected with global warming is too limited to judge whether the problem exists or not. I can only guess that it could be created just to earn money by some people. Thing that is quite sure for me is that climate change won't have a direct influence on me.

  11. Tomasz do You relay think that UE governments gain millions of euros each year? I dont think so, In my opinion millions are going to private pockets from UE governments and Polish government :(...

Maybe global warming is myth or maybe its real Threat .I dont know..., but I thing its god idea to carry away money from countries like Poland..

  12. Well, not that I don't observe the problem of climate change, but I strongly believe that the sudden climate warming is not only caused by the increased CO2 emission. The planet has continued to accumulate heat since 1998 - global warming is still happening. Nevertheless, surface temperatures show much internal variability due to heat exchange between the ocean and the atmosphere.
I look forward to reading some scientific explanations for the warming process.

  13. I have never thought about global warming being a myth, but it is a long proces and we don't see the changes since they occur very slowly. I think it is partly a slogan and a way of earning money, but that is how the world works nowadays. Everything is about money, earning as much as we can and gaining as much power as we can. Of course the environment has changed in the past 50 years but can we be sure what caused those changes?

  14. Agree with those of you writing about "global warming" as one of many things which big companies benefit from. Partly, though, as I don't really think it is a total scam - ozone hole, warming, freezing, big comet crashing our planet into pieces, all that stuff has it's scientific background. It's only a matter of time when first of them occur.

  15. I totally agree with Michal. But global warming it's a keyword that brings money, serious money. Scientists have their financial aids big companies have their financial aids to fight co2 emissions, and we pay for that. Famous leakage of emails from the scientist that measured Earths global temperature, and "fine tunning the results" says all about global warming.
