Global Warming - a myth? Part II

Recently hacker has broken into Climate Research Unit - leading climate research institution in United Kingdom and revealed emails between scientists in this institute, their authenticity has been confirmed by institute. You can view original emails at this address:

There is a lot of emails and it's hard to see them all but here are examples which I found on internet:

Manipulation of evidence:

I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline.
Private doubts about whether the world really is heating up:
The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t. The CERES data published in the August BAMS 09 supplement on 2008 shows there should be even more warming: but the data are surely wrong. Our observing system is inadequate.

Suppression of evidence:

Can you delete any emails you may have had with Keith re AR4?
Keith will do likewise. He’s not in at the moment – minor family crisis.
Can you also email Gene and get him to do the same? I don’t have his new email address.
We will be getting Caspar to do likewise.

Fantasies of violence against prominent Climate Sceptic scientists:

Next time I see Pat Michaels at a scientific meeting, I’ll be tempted to beat
the crap out of him. Very tempted.

Attempts to disguise the inconvenient truth of the Medieval Warm Period (MWP):

……Phil and I have recently submitted a paper using about a dozen NH records that fit this category, and many of which are available nearly 2K back–I think that trying to adopt a timeframe of 2K, rather than the usual 1K, addresses a good earlier point that Peck made w/ regard to the memo, that it would be nice to try to “contain” the putative “MWP”, even if we don’t yet have a hemispheric mean reconstruction available that far back….
"

However personally I wouldn't blame these scientists, they have to maintain their families so they have to get funding and there is no funding for contesting global warming.

I'd like you to see this movie, it really uncovers many important things, how facts were manipulated, what are a real correlations, how climate science work today and why many scientists support global warming theory.

Questions

What do you think about these leaked emails?

What is your opinion about the global warming now?

Do you think these emails will be a turning point?

  1. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that all these leaked emails won't really change anything. The situation is quite similar to that concerning WTC. Although many materials and voices were released to the public still nothing has changed. I'm just annoyed that governments organize some conference in Copenhagen concerning global warming (did you know that this particular conference generates such amount of carbon dioxide that an average African country does annually?) and try to collect incredibly huge amount of money for 'saving our planet' whereas there is so much poverty in the world ? It's ridiculous! Although we, theoretically, live in democratic countries, we cannot do a thing about it. Sad.

  2. Well I hope e-mails will be a turning point because resistance in United States to global warming propaganda is rising and some countries have already started questioning the official theory.

I'm also unhappy about the fact that Poland is participating in this movement, but sometimes democracy is only a slogan and we can't really decide like in Switzerland for example.

  3. I believe in global warming that is the reason why I am recycling, buying recycled paper, reusing bags, and buying organic food from local markets. I hope that this will help a bit ;]

  4. Well I'm afraid your effort is a bit useless if you consider global temperatures. Humanity only produce 4.5% of global CO2 (and if you watch the movie you can see that correlation between CO2 and temperature is not so obvious ) so even if everyone would be doing the same it wouldn't change anything.

  5. Mariusz- I recycle, reuse bags and try to safe energy but I don't belive in global warming ;) But I belive that without doing it we (humans) will soon make our planet die or kill us in other way.

  6. I don't think that those e-mails will change anything, I'm not sure that they are real. I do not any problem in generating millions of realistic messages on my own pc. In my opinion recycling began when we heard first time about global warming, now we recycle to save energy and money, I don't believe in global warming but I recycle, my parents recycle and a lot of people which I know do so too in order to simply save money. But can it change something? I think that yes, It won't stop this propaganda with global warming, but we and future generations won't live in a rubbish.

  7. That is right. Even if those mails are true, that's not enough. More reliable evidence are needed.

Most of the carbon dioxide is produced by oceans, volcanoes and... cows! That's why people have a very small influence on global production of CO2. But recycling, developing energy efficiency, using renewable energy sources, etc. will help us to clear the environment.

  8. Do you think these emails will be a turning point? I dont think so... Maybe these emails are fake.. Why not? I dont have opinion about global warming because I'm not specialist in this section.. If global warming is real thread we will see it:)

  9. As I mentioned before, I do not have enough knowledge to judge the existence of global warming. What I can see, is that currently, we have the coldest winter I remember. It's been over a month now since I saw temperature over 0 outside. Yesterday, when I got up at 7a.m. and had to go to work through the snow and the temperature was about -23 degrees and really prayed for the warming to come.
What about your comment with a democracy. It would change nothing if we had a possibility to chose whether we want to fight it or not. Media can make people trust in everything.

  10. I have to agree with the ones who claimed that these e-mails won't change a thing. The fact that the knowledge about them has not been spread widely only clarifies it.

I find recycling and reusing a positive things. On the other hand, markets collecting huge amounts of money of forcing people to buy easily degradable or reusable bags is just another way of earning money. Some facts to prove my statements:

One customer takes an average of 5 bags during one purchase. Cashier handles an average of 25 customers per hour. One hall of the market has about 30 tilts for 16 hours a day for 30 days a month. If the network has 50 hypermarkets, it used to use 90 million bags per month! Polyethylene bag in the purchase of huge quantities costs 2 groszys. It's 1 800 000 PLN per month.
Not only do the markets save money on bags, they sell it for 0,8-18

Sudently all markets worry about the environment!

  11. Blazej reminded me about the after-WTC situation - many publications was made to expose the truth (or at least prove that there are many missing pieces in the plane-into-building show). But who cares? The Overmind (or TV, if you prefer) had shown us planes, bearded men and demolished buildings. Did any of you watch Zeitgeist? Of course it's exaggerated but it's a great picture of our short-distance way of looking at the important aspects of our lives.

So no, I don't believe those revealed mails would change anything.
