Hello Guys:)
I've got an extra task for you, for extra points.
Have you heard of PechaKucha ???
I took part in such an event the previous week.
Your task is to check what it is and present your point of view.Give links to interesting sites that present it. What do you think of this new trend? I liked it a lot?
Have Fun!

  1. Hahahah! You know what ? I think this would be a good idea to provide some changes into our education system. Let's make a suggestion to our principal concerning Pecha Kucha. Not only students will be happy for having only 6:40 mins of a lecture but also teachers won't have to prepare lengthy presentations. The good point is that a person who decides on such a presentation has really to think of the most import things of the subject and to make this as interesting as only possible. I bet students will find these presentations more attractive and, finally, will remember much more than from a standard 1,5h lecture. Would u agree ?
I'm quite amused as it seems to be a real phenomenon. I've never heard of that but it turns out to be really popular nowadays, even in Poland - http://www.pecha-kucha.org/night/warsaw/ . Nice!

  2. I saw it live; there were many presentation on different topics and nobody got bored! What is interesting hundreds or even thousands of people gather in one place, see something interesting, meet people and drink beer;)
There is an obligatory beer break!
Next one in Warsaw is in January.
As far as education is concerned, maybe you are right;) You remember, the previous year I was in Berlin at a conference on e-education. I have just read that this year there are going to be pechakucha presentations.

  3. First of all I'm not sure whether few slides can convey enough relevant information. I don't know how about others but for me is it like watching a commercial. Even if it is awesome and somehow interresting after a moment my brain will simply get rid off unrelevant trash. In my opinion it can be used to show of with let's say some sort of art you made but there is no use in using such method in learning. Lectures need to contain much more information that just have to be explained by an instructor.

  5. I agree with Krzysztof.
This presentation format is surely great for what it was designed for - for presentations about art and design. Like Krzysztof said, it has something in common with tv ad.
In school, where teachers have to present a lot of concrete information, not only arouse student's interest, Pecha Kucha won't prove itself useful. Sometimes it's necessary to explain things slower, more carefully, or repeat them. There is no place for hurry.
Furthermore, last Thursday I had to give a presentation on a FIZ class, and it was said it had to last for minimum 15 minutes...

Still, this whole Pecha Kucha thing interested me, maybe I will have the opportunity to use it someday.

  10. Reading about it here was the first time I heard about PachaKucha. I must admit I found it interesting and have seen a few of them online. Many are funny and/or insightful.
The time limitations given assure this art is both challenging for the author to create and easy for the viewer to experience. I think I got hooked up.
